THE FIGURE

The work on this page represents much of my interest during the nineties and shortly after 2000. I was interested in imagery that spoke to my personal history. During that period I painted friends and family members. I was compelled by narratives and personal history. I still have strong connections to many of the people in this work. Eventually people began to interest me less than color, form, and shape. It has occured to me that what changesd during that time was the events in New York City, the center of the art world. I can 't be certain of this, but what is clear is that after that time, everything changed.
